Qinghai--Tibet Rail way is a high-elevation railway that connects Xining, Qinghai Province, to Lhasa ,Tibet Autonomous Region. The 1,142 km (710 mi) section between Golmud and Lhasa was inaugurated on 1 July 2006. Passenger trains run from Beijing,  Chengdu,  ChongqingGuangzhou 

Shanghai, Xi'ning and Lanzhou.Yangbajing Tunnel is the longest tunnel between Golmud and Lhasa. More than 960 km (600 m), over 80% of the Golmud–Lhasa section, is at an elevation of more than 4,000 m (13,123 ft). The line includes the Tanggula Pass, which, at 5,072 m (16,640 feet) above sea leavel, is the world's highest point on a railway. The effects of this railway on wild animals such as Tibeta antelopeand plants are mostly concerned. Thirty-three wildlife crossing railway bridges were constructed specifically to allow continued animal migration, luckly you can observe the Tibet antelope jump cross the special tunnel

Kumbum Monastery also now called "Taer Temple" is a gompa founded in 1583 in a narrow valley close to the village of Lusar in the historical region of Amdo, nowadays the Qinghai province .Its superior monastery is Drepung Monastery, It was ranked in importance as second only to Lhasa.In the 1360s Tsongkhapa's mother, with the help of locals, had a small temple with a stupa built on the site of his birthplace. In 1560 the meditator Tsöndrü Gyeltsen built a small monastery there called Gonpalung for intensive meditation practice. At first, it had seven monks at a time, but soon expanded to hold fifteen.In 1576,  Altan Khan (1507–1583) of the Tümed Mongols invited the future 3rd Dalai Lama, Sönam Gyatso (1543–1588) to bring Buddhism to Mongolia. After Altan Khan adopted Buddhism, he gave Sönam Gyatso the title Dalai Lama: Dalai is the Mongolian translation of the name Gyatso "ocean."

Day 01  Arrival in Xining  Kumbum Monastery, Dongguan Mosque

Meet Redearth  representative at Xining airport. transfer to hotel . afternoon a short rest you will be driven to Kumbum Monastery which is 16 miles (25 kilometers) from Xining. Kumbum is one of the six biggest Tibetan Monasteries. The founder of Yellow Hat Sect, Tsongkhapa, was born and grew up here before he went to Lhasa. You will view the Stupas, Teaching Hall...etc. The amazing Butter sculpture exhibition in the monastery will definitely impress you. Afterwards you will be transferred to a local restaurant for lunch. Then, you will be transferred to Dongguan Mosque in Xining that is the biggest mosque in Xining with traditional Chinese architecture and very different from Arabic style. You guide will take you for a visit at a local market near the mosque where you can see farmers selling all kind of veggies, fruits, meat, etc. At the end, you will be transferred back to your hotel 

Day 02  Day tour to Qinghai Lake

Enjoy a relax morning with a hotel breakfast. meet your guide at lobby and drive towards west . Feast your eyes with the stunning highland view, after appr.2and half hr drive you will find yourself standing by the tranquil vast highland lake. Explore Qinghai Lake, one of the largest saline-water lakes in China. Learn about this beautiful area and the Tibetan nomadic people that make this place their home. Hop on your car and drive to Xi'ning railway station , Board the night train, sit back and relax

Day 03   Arrive Lhasa in the evening 

On arrival in Lhasa , Redearth tour staff will greet you at LhasaRailway to transfer you to hotel.  the rest of the day you will be free to explore the neigborhood. 

Day 04   Lhasa Potala Palace, Jorkhang Temple , Barkhor Street.

In the morning, visit the Tibet's colossal Potala Palace, a striking thousand-room monument that dominates the Lhasa skyline Potala Palace, Visit the sacred Jokhang, Tibet's holiest temple and join thousands of pilgrims from all over Tibet and rest of Himalayas on a stroll through Barkhor a pilgrimage circuit that encircles the Jokhang, Lined with shops, restaurants and many tucked away temples and monasteries.. 

A welcome dinner will be arrange today to sincerely greet you.   

Day 05   Lhasa Norbulinka Summer Palace, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery

Visit the Norbulingka the official summer residence for the Dalai Lamas and their families from the mid-18th century. It is a park-like enclave surrounded by trees, ponds, and pavilions on the outskirts of Lhasa. Explore the grounds, which include gardens, fountains, and a small zoo. Afterwards, visit Sera monastery, where you can watch monks debate in the courtyard. And then Kora (pilgrim trail circling a sacred place) that offers a panoramic one-hour walk with views of the Lhasa Valley

Day 06   Lhasa--Lake Yamdrok --Gyantse

We will depart today from your hotel in Lhasa around 08:00 am. Morning drive up to Kampala pass(4794),you'll have a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso and spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar in the distance,the turquoise coloured Lake Yamdrok Yutso is one of the there holy lake in Tiibet, the unforgettable vista of pincer-shaped turquoise water of the lake and amazing spectacle of Mt.Nyenchen Khangsar glacier from Karo La pass are the wonders of the day. Then along the friendship Hwy southward drive to Gyantse, visit thefamous stupa-Pelkor Chöde Monastery Gyantse Kumbum. one of the most stunning architectural wonders in Tibet. The mutli-storied Kumbum Stupa was crowned with a golden dome and umbrella, surrounded with more chapels filled with unique religious statues and murals. Later afternoon

 Day 07  Gyantse--Shigatse Tashilunpo Monastery

A ten-minute drive from Gyangtse will take you to Pala Manor, a place that will give you something of an insight into the lifestyle of the wealthy landowning people who once lived in this area, another 2 hr ride to Shigatse, After arrival in Shigatse, we'll visit Tashilunpo Monastery, which is one of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa in Tibet. The monastery is located at the foot of Drolmari (Tara's Mountain), founded by the First Dalai Lama in 1447, the monastery's structure was expanded by the Fourth and successive Panhen Lama. It covers an area of nearly 300,000 square meters. Tashilunpo is the seat of Panchen Lama since the Fourth Panchen Lama took charge in the monastery, and there are now nearly 800 lamas

Day 08  Shigatse--Lhasa  

After breakfast, optionally visit the local farm market,  drive back to Lhasa and check in hotel , the rest of day is free for you to explore before leave Tibet.

Day 09  Departure

Enjoy your last morning in Tibet and say farewell to your guide. You will be transferred to the airport or train station to end your incredible week in Tibet..
